Pre April Fools

I had some fun this year posting this to All School News for April Fools. Since the school was breaking for spring break, it just seemed appropriate.

Hi All,

Last night, in an emergency board meeting, the KCD board overwhelmingly approved the construction of a tunnel from between the basements of the upper school and the lower/middle school. This tunnel is needed to facilitate new computer data and telephone cables along with the ability for students and faculty to move freely between the buildings during inclement weather. A small light rail train (subway) will also be installed.

Therefore, beginning April 1, we will begin construction on this Phase 1 of this tunnel. All KCD students, faculty and alumni will be required to participate. I know this is last minute, but you will have to cancel your spring break plans. Sorry.

Upper school students, parents and all alumni will report to the upper school basement Saturday April 1 at 6am. Middle and Lower school parents will report to the basement of the middle school, also at 6am. The division directors will assign duties and schedules at that time. We will be running three 8 hour shifts per day until the project is completed.

We will need the following items for this project: Shovels, pic axes, buckets, gloves, wheel barrows, coffee (lots of coffee), donuts, blasting caps and perhaps a cherry bomb or two. Also we are in need of hard hats, lanterns, gold panning bowles and other spelunking gear.

Hopefully the tunnel will be finished and functional by the end of spring break. If we work as a team we can accomplish anything! Phase 2 of the tunnel will begin this summer. Phase 2 will connect this tunnel with the Log Cabin and, of course, the Starbucks at the Summit.

Enjoy your Friday off, see you Saturday, APRIL 1!!!

Some of the replies...

I'll be there with my leetle friend, Jose Cuervo! Thanks for the laugh!

You guys just made my day!!! :)

Count me in! I would not be FOOLish enough to miss this.

According to bylaws 147 and 2490 of the "acceptable use of technology" agreement, this email "THE TUNNEL" constitutes a severe abuse of your email privileges. In accordance with said bylaws, your email privileges may be revoked by order of the junior kindergarten jury. They have declared that those responsible for said email should be sole responsible for the tunnel digging excavation, but have generously offered the use of the sand buckets and shovels from their classroom sand table. Any further infraction, may result in one full Friday as a Junior Kindergarten substitute teacher.

I have extra shovels and will be here at 6:45AM April 1st... I am also willing to provide counseling (free of charge, of course) to any faculty and/or staff person who might be grieving the loss of their Spring Break. I realize this is a huge sacrifice... but isn't this tunnel a long time coming... it is about time this campus starts shaping up... I mean, please... all of the other schools have tunnels...

Oh... and I did talk to Brad... he said you and Brian should get here about 6:00 AM... you know, to help set up... see you there.

---and finally---

You forgot the 120 cases of Budweiser (uh I mean Heiny) and the makins' for 100 gallons of Cosmopolitans. Perhaps a brief training session to show parents and students alike which end of the shovel goes into the dirt and which shoes and fashion accessories are best for digging a ditch.
Happy digging!
Have a good break.
